Reporting Criteria

Reporting Criteria

The severe weather criteria listed here generally conform to the published National Weather Service guidelines. When they differ it is on the conservative side. It is important to note that in the case of hail, wind or rainfall we will assume that they are estimates unless the word "measured" is used in the report.

Hail 1/2 inch or larger.
Winds greater than 50 MPH.
Rain fall greater than 1 inch per hour.
Tornadoes, Debris Clouds, or Funnels Clouds.
Wall clouds especially if rotation is present.
Flooding that poses a hazard and where it doesn't normally occur.
Wind or other storm damage to buildings etc.
Hail accumulations that pose a hazard or could cause flooding.
